About the event

At this year's Highfest event, we are delighted to announce that Doctor Hanton will host a series of Highfest Hands-On Science Workshops across the afternoon from 1.30 pm - 4.30 pm.

Each workshop runs for 30 minutes and is limited to 8 children per workshop.  Children in F3 and above may attend the workshops unsupervised, while an adult must accompany children in F2 and below to help them in the workshop.  Workshop attendance is free.

Please book tickets to the Highfest Hands-On Science Workshops once you have purchased your Highfest Entry Tickets.

Matchstick Rocket Workshop

Have you ever wondered how rockets work? Come and find out and have a go at building and firing your very own matchstick rocket.  During this 30-minute workshop, participants will learn a little about how rockets work before building their own matchstick rocket. They will then take turns firing their rockets to see which one will travel the furthest. If there is time, participants will have the chance to refine their ideas and have another go.
